Youth Programmes
Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland runs a host of cultural and sporting activities aimed at recognising and celebrating the achievements of young people of all ages. These enable our youth to enjoy challenges, develop strong bonds of friendship, and help them to express and realise their hopes, dreams and expectations.
Programmes include:
- RIBI Young Chef - helps young people develop cookery, planning and presentation skills
- RIBI Young Citizen Awards - awards for young people who work in their communities to improve the lives ofothers.
- RIBI Young Photographer - encourages young people aged 7-17 to express their ideas through the medium of photography.
- RIBI Youth Speaks - supports young people as they develop public speaking skills.
- Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) - residential courses aimed at the leaders of tomorrow.
- RIBI Young Technologist Tournament - an opportunity for students to use team-building skills in solving design and technology problems, as well as improving oral, written and graphical communications skills.
- RIBI Young Musician - a project to showcase young talent and to give young musicians the rare chance to perform on a large stage.
- Rotary Youth Exchange - gives over 9,000 young people every year the opportunity to see the world as it should be seen, meeting and living with people from other countries and cultures, learning another language and discovering themselves.
- Rotary and SportsAid (pdf) - the funding of talented young sportsmen and women with a view to create champions
- Pop Potential - Rotary's answer to the X Factor
- Schools Make Music - supports the wealth of talent in schools in the state and private sectors.
