RIBI Young Photographer
RIBI Young Photographer
The digital camera has revolutionised the photographic world with instant results and the end of the concept that the camera never lies. Editing, cropping and special effects can be applied with ease and skill. As a talent, and an art form, RIBI celebrates the photographic skills of thousands of young people with a sequence of competitions that give them the chance to demonstrate and display just what they can produce.
Each year, we see more and more RIBI Young Photographer competition entries.
This year, the competition has been granted the prestigious Inspire mark by the London 2012 Inspire programme. Sebastian Coe, Chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic games said: “The Inspire programme is ensuring the legacy of the 2012 Games starts now as projects like RIBI Young Photographer are enabling people to be part of the Games.”
Competition guidelines and entry forms for the 2012 competition are available at the bottom of this page and the theme for 2012 is 'Olympic spirit' which will have everyone sprinting into action with their cameras and creating medal winning pictures. Everyone has a sporting chance of being a winner in the RIBI Young Photographer competition.
Last year, each entrant into the RIBI final submitted a portfolio of four photographs based on the theme of ‘Community Spirit’.
This topic gave broad scope for imagination and creativity which covered anything from clearing the snow to paying tribute on Remembrance Sunday. The quality of the photographs produced was quite fantastic. Do take some time to enjoy the winning entries for Cathy Comerford, Joe Marsden and Meghan Flannery in special galleries.
The theme for 2013 is 'Peace'. The rules for can be located below.
If you know of young people in your schools or youth groups who have an interest in photography, then seek out your local Rotary Club and ask them for details.
