Zone Co-ordinators

'Reach Within to Embrace Humanity' - the words of Rotary International's President Kalyan Banerjee about how he wants to see Rotary clubs develop in the future.

To help Rotarians meet the challenges ahead, there is a resource: Rotary Zone Coordinators. These Rotarians are selected by the RI President, are well-versed in the many programmes of Rotary International and knowledgeable about Rotary club and district best practices.

The Rotary Co-ordinators (RCs)

Bob Christie and Peter Davey are Rotary Coordinators, representing zones 17 and 18A respectively.

RCs are consultants, advisers, mentors and a catalyst for change, working on the premise that clubs are the most important thing in Rotary. The RCs are a resource when it comes to the multiple aspects of RI and its programmes, providing a communication link between RI senior leaders and Rotary clubs.

There is guidance on best practice to strengthen clubs and districts, such as strategic planning, effective public relations, leadership development and building membership through stronger clubs and districts. We also plan and conduct training, including district and regional seminars and workshops where needed, with the assistance and support of district leaders.

Rotary Coordinators support clubs in each Rotary zone, along with the Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinators and the RI Director.

Regional Rotary Foundation Co-ordinators (RRFCs)

Bob Higgins and Malcolm Boddington are RRFCs for zones 17 and 18A respectively.

Uniquely in zones 17 and 18A, as well as the RRFCs and their teams, there is the RIBI Foundation Committee with essentially the same goals. In order that these two teams can work in harmony, the roles have been split. The RIBI team looks after the programmes of The Rotary Foundation and the Zone team is more involved in increasing the finances, such as progressing the EREY contributions, the number of sustaining members and donations to the polio challenge.

Both the RIBI and zone teams are there to help districts, not only to sort queries, disseminate information, but also to assist with district seminars when invited.

Zone co-ordinators for RI Public Image Resource Group (RI PIRG)

John Pike is the Zone 17 co-ordinator, Eve Conway is the Zone 18 co-ordinator.

Appointed by the RI President, the Public Image Resource Group Co-ordinators provide information and support to Rotary clubs and districts to help them to promote projects, share success stories and explain what Rotary is and does through the media. They also work to improve the organisation's overall public image.

John and Eve are here to assist Rotarians, clubs and districts in developing plans and initiating activities that will enhance the organisation's local visibility and help implement Rotary's global public image campaign. PR training, PR resources and advice about PR grants are available through John and Eve.
