REPORTS RECEIVED Wednesday 5January 2005
The
Rotary Club of Skipton Craven pledged £2500 to District
1040 for five Shelterboxes ahead of any collections. With the
total co-operation from Tesco in Skipton and
donations the club was able to collect £7,600. The response
from the community of Skipton has been overwhelming.
The
Rotary Club of West Bromwich held a bucket collection at West
Bromwich Football Stadium and raised £10,384. The
generosity of the fans was overwhelming. West Bromwich Albion
has agreed to match this making the amount collected over £20,000.
The collection will continue until the next home match on 22nd
January when the final amount will be known.
The
three day collection by a number of clubs in District 1230 now
stands at £25,000. DGE Jim Copeland coordinated East
Kilbride, Kittoch, Strathven,
Rutherglen and other clubs who assisted.
 The
Purley Club has donated ten Shelter Boxes and
will be sending more from its Swimathon to be held on February
4th. Clubs from District 1140 are invited to enter teams for the
Swimathon with all cash raised to go to Shelter Boxes.
The
Rotary Club of Heston and Isleworth has been
raising money to buy Shelter Boxes. The club has so far raised
more than £8,700, enough for 17 boxes, with events including
a £4,750 collection at a Tesco store.
On
Friday 30th December and Saturday 1st January the Rotary Club
of Arundel, District 1250 raised £5,000.
Ten Shelter Boxes have been purchased. and the Club is now in
the process of filling 12 Aquaboxes in Primary Schools
The
Rotary Club of Feltham spent Monday standing
outside a local branch of Tesco and raised over £1,100 which
will be put towards Shelter Boxes. It is probable that the Inner
Wheel Club will donate sufficient funds for a further box.
As
of today, District 1140, to the South and West of London, has
received £57,966 from Clubs in its District.
ROTARY'S GRATEFUL THANKS GO TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC
