livelihood in the wave. We have Rotarians, Inner wheel members
and volunteers working from 10 am to 8 pm every day sorting the
never-ending supply of goods etc that just keeps coming.
 Members
of Lowestoft East Point, Lowestoft and Lowestoft South Rotary
Clubs are delighted to report that following collections in Lowestoft
during the past week over £15,000 has been raised for the
disaster relief fund. Through the generosity of the people of
Lowestoft who have given in an unprecedented manner, the funds
were banked yesterday and a cheque forwarded without delay to
the Rotary International relief fund.
Members
of The Rotary Club of Wortley District 1270)
have raised a bumper £4,000 solely from members and friends
to help the victims of the Asian Tsunami. At a special meeting
members brought along enough items to fill three Aqua boxes which
were packed and will be shipped out to the region immediately.
Members got iin contact with each other by telephone and e-mail
to raise the funds and call the meeting in view of the extended
Christmas and New Year break. In addition, the £4,000 raised
will be used to purchase 13 Aqua box 30's, each of which contains
sufficient water filtration equipment to filter 30,000 litres
of water. Three have already been shipped and the remaining ten
will be sent during the next few days.
 The
Rotary and Inner Wheel clubs of Pitlochry joined
forces yesterday to raise funds to send to the victims of the
tsunami disaster in the Indian Ocean. Volunteers from both clubs
were in the Pitlochry Co-op between 10am and 4pm with collecting
buckets for those who wished to contribute to the relief fund.
Said Treasurer Ian Moyes, “ The scale of this disaster has
touched everyone, and the public response has been fantastic,
with over £500 being donated in the first hour”. Said
Linda Moyes of Pitlochry Inner Wheel “There will be a coffee
morning organised by the Pitlochry Inner Wheel and Rotary Clubs
on 8th January in the Tryst Hall, with home baking and a raffle
to raise more funds to be sent to the Relief Fund.” As well
as the collection at the Co-op, the Rotary Club of Pitlochry have
already sent a cheque to the Relief fund for £500. At the
close £4103.40 had been collected in a single day...

has already been promised and it is expected the final total will
exceed £5,000.
vThe three
Rotary Clubs in Kings Lynn, Kings Lynn, Kings
Lynn Priory and Kings Lynn Trinity, did a street collection on
Friday 31st December. Around 45 members gave their help during
the day from 8am to 4pm outside main shops such as Boots, M &
S, and Sainsburys. The total amounted donated by the public during
this time was £10,903. In addition several collecting boxes
were placed in various pubs on the 31st December to catch the
public when out celebrating and to date (5th January) the total
amount collected is £13,500 and with one more fundraiser

Town Centre on Monday and raised £5,628. The Club is now
seeking to raise this amount by contributions from Rotarians and
friends.
A
couple of dozen buckateers from Edinburgh and Leith Rotary Clubs
collected over £13,000 (and more with gift aid forms, whizzing
down to Cornwall) at the recently opened Ocean Terminal in Leith,
new home of the Royal Yacht Britannia. Bill McLure and Keith Frost
erected a shelter tent and displayedthe contents of a Shelter
Box for inspection by excited kids.
Worcester
South sent off for six Shelter Boxes as soon as the need was realised,
and subsequent collections at a Garden Centre in Worcester
have enabled a further 12 to be sent. Having persuaded a local
radio celebrity to help, (Promising to shave off his old and much-loved
moustache if he gets sufficient sponsorship has so far raised
in excess of £15,000!) we expect to be able to pay for at
least another 30 boxes very soon. The generosity of the people
in and around Worcester at this critical time is simply astonishing.

District 1200 has particular links with Sri Lanka and S India
and hope to set up Club to Club links and adopt villages or areas
to help with the rebuilding.
The
three Rotary clubs in Lowestoft, Suffolk with
the help of Inner Wheel, collected over the New Year Weekend,
from their local Rainbow, Somerfield, B & Q stores, various
pubs and clubs, and at the local Pantomime. A magnificent total
of over £15,000 was realised. Thank You Lowestoft!
Renfrew

Dec 2004, and raised £34000.00 in the two days - a great
respons. There were nine other clubs involved, Govan,
Paisley, Paisley Callants, Erskine,
Gryffe, Shawlands, and Eastwood.
President David Shan of Renfrew RC, and ADG Catherine Stewart
would like to thank fellow rotarians for all their help - it was
such a family event, with children, grandchildren, grandparents,
all helping.
