over Great Britain and Ireland will join the 13th annual
Rotary KidsOut Day on Wednesday 12th June 2002. Rotary KidsOut
Day is a day out promoted by Rotary and supported by KidsOut,
the national charity for children with special needs.

CITIZENSHIP CD-ROM FOR SCHOOLS TO BE LAUNCHED AT GLASGOW
CONFERENCE

Citizenship is the focus of a new CD-ROM in the Rotary award
winning 'Coping with Life' series, which is to be launched
at Rotary's annual conference in Glasgow this month. The
CD-ROM has been highly commended by the Prime Minister,
"I think it is a fantastic innovation. It is using
technology to get through to children, teachers and parents
in ways which would have been unthinkable when I was younger.
I congratulate Rotary on their vision in producing such
a valuable and relevant resource and, more importantly,
for making it available free to schools," Mr Blair
commented.

PEACE CENTRES TO BE LAUNCHED AT GLASGOW CONFERENCE AND THE

Professor Paul Rogers, Head of Peace Studies at Bradford
University, will be speaking at this year's Rotary conference
about Rotary's new Peace Centre initiative, due to begin
in September 2002. Seventy Rotary World Peace Scholars have
been selected to participate in the two-year MA graduate
programme related to peace and conflict resolution at seven
universities throughout the world. Bradford University,
chosen from more than 100 universities world-wide, will
be running the Peace Centre MA programme in the UK.

PEACE TO BE ON THE AGENDA FOR ROTARY'S ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Around 3000 Rotarians will be in Glasgow for their annual
conference to be held in the city from April 11-14, where
international peace will be the main theme. The Rotarians
will be listening to a variety of speakers and meeting fellow
Rotarians at both business and social events at the conference.
It is the largest annual gathering of members of Rotary
International in Great Britain and Ireland.

86615 REDEDICATED ROTARY INTERNATIONAL

Freshly painted locomotive 86615 has been rededicated to
Rotary International at a ceremony at Ipswich train station
today (25 February). 86615 Rotary International has been
repainted from its old Freightliner grey to the new green
and yellow Freightliner livery. At the same time as the
locomotive was repainted the nameplates were refurbished
and reapplied to it.

Citizenship is the focus of a new CD-ROM in the Rotary Coping
with Life series, a Rotary International in Great
Britain and Ireland initiative, launched today by the Prime
Minister Rt Hon Tony Blair MP.

PRESENTS OVER £250,000 TO CHARITY

David Liddiatt, President Rotary International in Great Britain
and Ireland presented more than £250,000 to charity
in a presentation evening held on 10th December at The Holiday
Inn, Maidenhead. The money was raised through a raffle relating
to the Team Rotary entry in the World Cup Rally 2001, and
is in aid of Motability and Rotary registered Charities.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire's Chris Tarrant presented
a prize to the winner of the KidsOut national photographic
competition at a special ceremony held on the set of Millionaire,
at Elstree Studios on Saturday 17th November.

have joined forces to deliver a truly spectacular and captivating
sight at the 2001 Lord Mayors Show - the colourful
procession, traditionally held on the second Saturday in
November, in celebration of the appointment of the new Lord
Mayor.

ROTARY WORLD CUP RALLY DRAW RAISES OVER £250,000 FOR
CHARITY

The Team Rotary entry in the World Cup Rally 2001 has raised
more than £250,000 for charity in a nationwide Rally
Draw. The money raised is in aid of Motability and Rotary
registered Charities. Team Rotary successfully completed the
6000 mile round trip from the Brooklands Motor Museum in Weybridge
to the Atlas Mountains taking in the sights of the Sahara
Desert, Morocco, France, Spain and Portugal before arriving
back at Brooklands 21 days later to tumultuous applause.

LEAFLET BLITZ TO ALERT THE NATION TO THE THREAT OF TB

Rotary clubs throughout Britain and Ireland are this month
distributing nearly half a million leaflets to create awareness
of the threat of TB. Rotary has formed a partnership with
the UKs leading charity TB Alert to increase awareness
of the killer disease and to raise funds to combat it. Leaflets
are being distributed by Rotarians at schools, libraries,
shopping centres, hospitals, leisure centres and doctors
surgeries and many other outlets.

A new initiative forming a partnership between Rotary International
in Great Britain and Ireland and SportsAid, will help to
create Olympic champions out of talented and committed young
sports men and women, by providing them with the financial
support that they need and deserve to fulfil their sporting

JOINS TB ALERT TO COMBAT KILLER DISEASE

Rotary International in Britain and Ireland is joining the
UKs leading charity TB Alert to increase awareness
of the killer disease and to raise funds to combat it. At
home, new cases of TB have been emerging at a worrying rate:
there were around 8,000 last year in Britain and Ireland
alone, an increase of 10 per cent on 1999 and it appears
to be showing no sign of abating
RADICAL
CHANGE FOR ROTARY TO MEET 21ST CENTURY CHALLENGE

Rotary announced today radical changes in the development
of new clubs, as well as changes in the rules governing
existing clubs, to meet the challenge faced by volunteer
organisations in the new millennium. The new Rotary year
which starts on 1st July sees the launch of a global initiative
to set up 190 new clubs, 22 of these in Great Britain and
Ireland.
