More Projects Receive Flood Appeal Money
Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland announce today the fifth batch of projects to be allocated funding from the Rotary Flood Disaster Appeal. The appeal raised more than £1 million including £700,000 raised from Fashion For Relief, a charity fashion show organised by Naomi Campbell.
The fifth batch of projects to be allocated funding from the Rotary Flood Disaster Appeal are announced today. Priority has been given to sustainable community based projects and community recovery activities with a particular focus on helping young people who have been badly affected. In this fifth tranche a further £86,746 has been allocated and includes the following projects:
- To refurbish & replace equipment Gloucester All Blues Rugby Football Club £3050
- To refurbish St Davids Community Centre, Moreton in the Marsh £15,000
- To replace equipment and books Kingswood College, Hull £4364
- To provide sports equipment and facilities Wold Primary School£5000
- To provide kitchen equipement Endsleigh Community Centre, Hull£31,625
- To replace kitchen equipment Bude Park School, Hull £2500
- To replace playground equipment Broadacre School, Hull £3952
- To replace electric piano Hull Orchard Park Evangelical Church £2005
- To replace sports equipment and facilities Lincoln City SupportersTrust £2250
- To replace boiler Bentley Central Methodist Church £6000
- To replace heavy roller Wath Cricket Club £5000
This brings the total allocated to date to more than £786,000
The Rotary Flood Disaster Appeal raised over £300,000* and this has been augmented by a further £ 700,000 of funds raised by the Fashion for Relief fashion show.
Naomi Campbell said, "I am thrilled with the results of this year's Fashion For Relief, and thank all those who contributed in supporting these communities affected by the floods."
