Rotarians respond quickly to Pakistan floods

Across Great Britain and Ireland, Rotary clubs are working hard to raise funds following the devastating floods in Pakistan. In the immediate aftermath of this natural disaster, victims are looking for shelter, warmth, food and clean water. Water Survival Box , Aquabox and ShelterBox can provide life-saving aid where it is needed most.
So far, aid for 1,000 families in Kyber Pukhtunkwa and Punjab regions has been delivered in just 48 hours from ShelterBox. Inside each box is a ten-person tent and survival equipment to keep a family going for several months but more help is urgently needed. An estimated 2-million people have lost their homes and are relying on aid agencies to get through.
Two hundred Water-Survival Boxes, the bulk of the stock available at present, have been offered to Humanity First UK. HF-UK staff are working hard to ensure swift transit through customs and distribution to families most in need. WSB is awaiting confirmation of the air transport and on-site distribution arrangements before this consignment can be sent. This will leave just 75 packed boxes in the depot and packing sessions are now being organised.
Rotary club members across Great Britain and Ireland are organising fundraising activities and appealing to the public. The generosity of the public in times of great need is well documented. In the first three months of this year, following the Haiti Earthquake, over £3m was raised for Rotary supported projects.
