The Big Society and Rotary
Following the announcement by the UK Government of the details behind the concept of the Big Society , Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland (RIBI) is investigating ways of collaborating with this initiative.
It is recognised that key messages within the Big Society echo the principles of Rotary in particular those surrounding supporting communities, improving lives for others and working together to make a better world.
Rotarians have been dedicating their time, their skills and their talents to making a difference for over a hundred years. It is hoped that this work will be recognised and that Rotary clubs will lend themselves to supporting and implementing parts of the Big Society.
The Big Society is a big idea and one which RIBI is keen to explore. On paper, the two share several common beliefs. Time and discussions will reveal what direction any potential combination may take.
