Full guidance about the Vetting and Barring Scheme is available to the right of this page.
This document contains details on:
• The scope of the Scheme;
• Barring arrangements;
• Responsibilities and duties for both employers and volunteer organisers, and the duties for those individuals you take on;
• Timescales for the phased implementation of the Scheme;
• Explanation of transitional arrangements around Scheme introduction.

This full guidance release will be followed by a suite of 'sector specific' guidance documents, which will show how the Scheme will be applied in different areas of work and volunteering activities and will be published shortly.

December 2009

There is an interesting and useful diagram on the right hand side of this page which demonstrates the effects of the Independent Safeguarding Authority.

July 2009

For clubs and districts in England, Wales & Northern Ireland the next year will see the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) in full swing. They will be listing or barring individuals working with children and vulnerable adults.The new registration with a CRB check will be available from July 2010 and compulsory from November 2010.

From October 2009 the Standard CRB check will not be relevant for our purposes and therefore we should only seek enhanced checks henceforth.

The other immediate change is our definition of regular involvement.This is now defined in the new Act as more than once per month and we should immediately adopt this definition.
