RIBI Donations Trust

The RIBI Donations Trust is a registered charity which was set up in 2007, initially to administer the appeal for the 2007 UK floods and the money remaining in the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami appeal fund.

The purpose of the charity is to respond to international disasters in the reconstruction phase following the disaster. It is not intended as an emergency response fund which is covered by many other charities and organisations, well equipped to provide immediate relief.

The charity is administered by six trustees who are all RIBI members, who are responsible for all activities and funds. Operational and financial services are provided by the RIBI Secretariat.

The RIBI Donations Trust aims to provide funding in areas affected by these disasters for sustainable projects within these communities. This ranges from constructing and equipping school and community centres, replacing lifeboats to providing new rescue vehicles.

The UK Flood Appeal attracted support from super model, Naomi Campbell, who hosted a Fashion Relief event whereby the clothes on show were auctioned off to raise funds. In one evening, over a million pounds was raised.
