'Why Rotary?' DVD
The 'Why Rotary?' DVD is a key part of the new member recruitment 'tool kit' of materials, designed to change perceptions amongst 'younger' men and women in business and professions, by showing Rotarians who are just like them!
It's deliberately simple, but effective, with real Rotarians telling in their own words what Rotary means to them. It is NOT an 'everything-there-is-to-know-about-Rotary' DVD. It is, however, a DVD that overcomes the fundamental barrier to this generation joining Rotary - "It's not for me... it's for my dad!" Then they become far more receptive to finding out more.
To quote from an email from a Rotarian:
"Our daughter is 35 years old and a very dedicated teacher who specialises in teaching children with autism. Like very many of her generation, she is in the office at 7am - seldom leaving before 7pm, but still makes time to fund-raise on behalf of her school - Red Nose Day etc. With Rotarian parents she obviously knows about Rotary and views it as something for our generation, not hers. Recently, I showed her and two of her friends (who enjoy taking the mickey out of me about Rotary) the 'Why Rotary?' DVD and 'Join Rotary' leaflet. The power of the DVD was instant and obvious - not only have their perceptions of Rotary completely changed, they now wish to start a new Rotary club!"
