Club News & Events
This is something I'm wanting to change shortly - largely because many users don't update the event AFTER it has happened, consequently the 'previous events' areas on the district homepage and club pages display text in the future tense!
The 'events' section should be used for any event OUTSIDE your normal club meeting programme. Council meetings, sponsored walks, charity fund-raisers etc should all feature in the 'events' pages.
Events you add in your admin section are automatically displayed on the district site (if they are using the system), and are advertised on the district homepage for 30 days prior to the event date. Obviously, nobody outside your club is going to be remotely interested in the fact that you are having a Club Council meeting, so thee is the option NOT to display events on the district site.
To add a news report or event
In the Club Events area of your admin section, click 'Add'
The following window appears;

The 'upload picture' is used to create a 'headline' picture, as displayed on the club, district and RIBI sites - here's an example from District 1240;
On
the real page, when you click on the thumbnail image, a larger
picture is displayed. This method of uploading pictures differes
from
how
you add pictures
into the body of your report.
Based on your experiences using the other forms in the admin section, I hope using this form isn't too challenging!
The main difference is the 'Brief Details' field. This is displayed on the district and club websites (and possible RIBI site) and should act as an 'inducement' for people to want to read more about the event (a link is automatically generated if there is informatiion in the 'Full Details' field). This is the field that needs updating AFTER the event has taken place, so, for example;
BEFORE EVENT: Our members will be attempting to traverse the Cheshire Plain without the aid of oxygen, with funds being raised going to Hope House Children's Hospice.
Go to UPDATE EVENT
AFTER EVENT: 32 club members managed to raise £6,400 for Hope House Children's Hospice by walking The Cheshire Plain without the aid of oxygen. A great day was had by all - read the full report...
(OK, so my warped sense of humour got the better of me, but hopefully you get the drift!)
... and use the Editor field to add phots and text about how successful the event was!
