Rotary clubs and districts in RIBI are gearing up to be part of the biggest sporting event these islands have seen for years, The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
RIBI clubs and their members have a number of opportunities to get involved, including:
- Sponsorship - Some Rotary clubs are already sponsoring a young athlete who is competing in the Paralympic Games. UK Athletics have identified some Paralympic hopefuls who would like support to be able to compete.
- Stewarding- Olympic and Paralympic events not just in London but across Great Britain
- Accompanying children - Clubs have the opportunity to purchase group organiser tickets and organise a Rotary KidsOut Day event to take disabled and able-bodied youngsters to the Paralympic Games.
- Clean up - Rotary clubs will also be helping to clean up the Olympic Village after the event
- Home Hosting - Rotarian hosts are needed for Home Hosting. The Home Hosting programme gives Rotarians attending the 2012 Games the opportunity to stay with other Rotarians.
