Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland regard encouraging and developing speaking and presentation skills in young people as highly important and we are pleased to know that our schools seem to agree and hence the Rotary Youth Speaks competition moves forward from strength to strength each year producing some superb quality speakers in our young people from 11 to 18.
In May 2010, the final of the RIBI competition was held in Stratford-upon-Avon at which 8 senior and 7 intermediate teams presented to a large audience and some very particular judges. This was preceded by 8 regional competitions each again of an equal number of entries. If we roll this back through the 29 district competitions and further back to the club or area events, then soon it can be calculated that the competition involved some 2000 entries.
The quality of the speakers was outstanding and the audience hugely impressed by the talent demonstrated.
This competition is open to young people in the qualifying age groups. If you know of such young people in your schools or youth groups then seek out your local Rotary Club from the ‘Find a Club' button at the head of this page and ask them for details. Alternatively email or call RIBI via the ‘contact us' link above.
Full rules are available from this web page. Please note that these rules apply to the regional and RIBI finals. District and local event rules may differ.
We look forward to hearing from you.
